The South Granville Coffee Tour

For those of you unfamiliar with the South Granville neighbourhood, let me do my very best to enlighten you. It's an area unlike anywhere else in Vancouver first and foremost, with a huge mix of restaurants, boutiques, and of course...lots of coffee shops. All the owners care about the community so they do their best to make sure that their shops embody what it means to be a part of South Granville. Ok now that I've hyped up South Granville, here's a list of independent coffee shops that I toured:

Dose Espresso Bar

Serving Granville Island's Origin Coffee Roasters' organic coffee as well as a bunch of fresh pastries and baked goods made in house, Dose is focusing on local from start to finish. This place is a hidden gem for sure because you could walk by it and miss it but definitely worth stopping in and check out! Trust me...I'm a coffee blogger (also they have a spinach and cheese waffle that you need to grab before they run out). It was a hidden gem.

Goodge Place

The only shop in the neighbourhood that serves Milano Roasters coffee, this half coffee shop half lifestyle store serves up a classy Americano (seriously you need to check out their mugs) while you walk around finding some decor for your home. This has to be one of the most unique coffee shops I've seen in my life. It was unique.

Heirloom Juice Co

This Juicery had to be added on the list, and not for the reason you think. Their Turbo Coffee will have you wired for the day (and that's me saying it). 4 shots of espresso (Moja Coffee), Maca powder, and coconut oil have never tasted so good together. If you need a strong coffee to get you through your day without the strong flavor of coffee, this is the drink for you. It was packed with caffeine.

Small Victory

Originally only located in Yaletown, Small Victory just recently opened up their South Granville location and wow is it worth a visit. Everything about this shop screams perfection-from the coffee bar to the wide open space, even when you take a look at their cups. Every detail of this place (including the special water system!) has been planned meticulously and it was well worth the wait.

Pro Tip: Grab yourself their Passionfruit Cheesecake and a pour over and just try to not shed a tear at the balance of flavors. It was new.

Bump n Grind

This appealing South Granville staple serves a multitude of different Canadian roasters (Phil & Sebastian, BowsXArrows, Anchored Coffee, just to name a few) this independently owned coffee shop is a great place to grab a hot brew or a home-made cold brew then sit and study or people watch. It was quaint.

Phoscao Café

This French inspired coffee shop has a calm-cozy vibe and serves JJ Bean and Source Coffee as well as some amazing pastries. I had myself a delicious cinnamon bun and some JJ Bean in my americano and just indulged a bit. The staff are beyond friendly and you can be sure that at some point you'll want to try their Bingsoo shaved ice cream (ya, you heard right). It was cozy.

Le Creuset

This one took me by surprise. Le Creuset is a kitchenware store so why would it have a coffee bar? Cause it's a brilliant idea that's why. The only one of its kind in the world, they have a full coffee offering, serving 49th Parallel coffee and pastries from Thierry made fresh and delivered daily in their colourful stoneware. Why wouldn't you want a cup of coffee while buying yourself some cool cookware, bakeware, and every-ware? It was colourful.

Bean Around the World

Bean Around the World is unique and well known for sourcing and roasting their own beans. Although this store is independently owned, they have the same great coffee as other Bean Around the World cafes. This spot specifically has a wide assortment of pastries baked fresh daily, and if you're looking for some solid coffee/reading time they have a snug nook in the back that is just waiting for you. Otherwise, there's plenty of neat art by local artists aon the walls to amuse you while you're kicking back.

Trees Organic Coffee

Ok yes they have unreal organic coffee that they source and roast, but what I was most excited about here was the cheesecake. Their cheesecake is definitely one-of-a-kind, with a wide variety-from your typical New York cheesecake to their limited edition monthly flavours. I could sit here listing off all their cheesecakes or I can just tell you to go try it for yourself and grab yourself a coffee while you're at it...because you can never have enough coffee! It was filled with cheesecake.

So there you have it. A list of some of the best coffee shops South Granville has to offer. If you're ever in the neighbourhood and want to get a feel for how friendly, upbeat, and just genuinely great the community is stop by any of these coffee shops and you'll get some amazing service. Tell them Alfred Drinking Coffee sent you, maybe they'll give you an extra big smile with your coffee! (I can't really promise more than that).

Happy Coffee Drinking!

Hello Alfred!! 😁 I hope you’re fine?!! I’m just sending you this message to tell you that I really like your Instagram profile, I think it’s just great and different!!!!
I do not know if you know what I do in life? In fact, I earn money through the social network by making known a range of great products (noticeably a revolutionary coffee which would be perfect for you to try!!!) and I teach people to do the same!
Have you ever thought of making extra income because I think you’d be perfect for that!!!
What do you think????
