2018: A Year in Review

As the year is nearing to a close, it's in times like these where I like to reflect on the past year and look at all the great that has come of it. I wanted to share my thoughts about the last year with you all.

As many of you know, and some of you may not, I have started this coffee reviewing adventure late 2016, pretty sure it was in September of that year. Never did I expect it to become what it is today. It started off as something fun to do, just a way to share my love for coffee in a different, relatively entertaining way. Like seriously, this was my first picture!

Why would anyone ever think that this post would do well? But for some reason you all enjoyed it and thus Alfred Drinking Coffee was born. So I kept posting and you kept liking it, but not only that but the sheer volume of messages I received about how much people liked the instagram page and the amount of people that told me how they actually went to try out the coffee's that I reviewed gave me a sense that although the posts are meant to be funny to a certain degree, people are actually getting some benefit out of them and trying out new coffees.

Fast forward to 2018. This year has been filled with not only coffee's from around the world, but it has also shown me that the coffee community is one that tries to build one another up. Everyone is willing to help the other, everyone wants the other to succeed and will support. The amount of times I saw different coffee shop owners supporting the opening of a new shop in town was astounding to me. Rather than seeing them as competition, they hailed it as a new avenue to share the coffee experience. This to me is incredible. The love and support you get in the coffee community is phenomenal.

I have met some incredible people in this coffee community and am so happy to have met them. This year was filled with great people, great conversations, and of course, great coffee. The support I received from the coffee community is not one that I can ever forget and for that I want to thank you all!

I also need to take this time to thank all of you reading this post and everyone that has supported my ventures this year, whether its reading the articles on the site, watching the videos I've been in about coffee with the Port of Vancouver or Starbucks Canada, or whether its supporting the coffee collaboration I did with JJ Bean. Thank you all so very much for all the love and support you've shown me this past year.

I also want to thank those that have been in support of the new venture I'll be starting in 2019 where I have Guest Authors on the site sharing their insights into the coffee culture around them. I wanted this to be a platform to share their ideas, and just feel like a one stop shop of sorts for the coffee community around the world. If you're reading this and you're interested email me here and we can chat about your article ideas!

Now, I have a small ask of you. As 2018 is coming to a close and 2019 in starting up, I want to know, what do you want to see from me this coming year? is it more coffee reviews on the site? Product reviews? Videos? What is it that you want to see from me. Email me, Direct Message me, or just stop me on the street and tell me your suggestions (this isn't a joke, people have actually done this). I want to hear from you because the whole point of Alfred Drinking Coffee is to give as much insight into the coffee world to help you pick the best coffee for you.

Once Again, thank you for making 2018 an amazing year and I hope 2019 will be even better and filled with even more coffee!

Thank you again,

Alfred Drinking Coffee
